I guess I didn’t stress enough yesterday that this is MAJOR SURGERY.  You will be down and out for a while.

My particular doctor requires a 4 day stay in the hospital for Gastric Bypass, and then 4 weeks of recovery at home.  This means no work, no heavy lifting, no running around, just rest and recovery.

This is no joke.  Make sure that this is a decision that you want to make.  Yes it will take time to lose the weight even with the surgery, but for me at least, the benefits outweigh the risks.

All of the health problems that I listed yesterday will either be reduced or eliminated by this surgery.  Am I scared….OH YEAH!  But by talking to the doctor and the others involved as well as those who have gone through this my mind has been put to ease.

The Importance of Being Physically Fit #PhysicallyFit #obesity #MorbidObesity #survival #LifeorDeath #surgery

Back in October of last year, I wrote the article “The importance of being fit in a survival situation”.  In that article I talked about the importance of getting fit and staying fit.

I admit that I have struggled with my weight for years.  I was even a heavy set kid.  Back then we didn’t call people fat or obese, we called them husky.  I was a “husky” child.

When I was 18 I was over 350 pounds…

D-Day #DDAY #TheGreatestGeneration #WWII

1944_02_wppixelAbout 160,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, to fight Nazi soldiers on June 6, 1944. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory”. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by the end of the day, the troops gained a foot- hold in Normandy. Thousands of soldiers lost…

Gaslight DavepixelI know that I have been absent lately and I will be more than happy to tell you why.

My Eldest Progeny (aka EP) has been having a few emotional and mental problems for the last couple of years.  This past March they came to a head and at the beginning of May we opted to enroll her in a Wilderness Program.  This has taken all of our time and energy to deal with since it has effect EP’s younger…

Memorial Day – Remembering those who gave their all. #MemorialDay #ArmedForces

Memorial-DaypixelMemorial Day History

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace of Memorial Day. There is also evidence that organized women’s groups in the South were decorating graves before the end of the…
